Brussels is the ideal city for a holiday with family or friends, among nineteenth-century buildings, parks and museums.
To make the most of the city and the enchanting medieval old town, you will have to choose carefully best area to stay in Brussels.
The hub of the Belgian capital and its main attraction is the Grand Place, one of the most beautiful squares in the world, a World Heritage Site and a starting point for discovering the city.
The Grand Place is the true symbol of Brussels which over the years has enchanted poets such as Victor Hugo and Baudelaire. On the square there are some of the oldest and most fascinating buildings in the Belgian capital.
The Quartiere dell'Ilot Sacré, with its picturesque streets, called by the names of the ancient guilds and full of clubs, shops and cafes.
It is just the area around the Grand Place, the best place to stay in Brussels.
Staying in Ilot Sacré and therefore in the center, you can easily walk around and visit the main attractions.
Slightly out of the central area, called Pentagon because of its shape which resembles an inverted pentagon, there is the neighborhood Ixelles, crossed by Avenue Louise, one of the main streets of the city. This is another excellent choice where to stay in Brussels.
Avenue Louise is an avenue about 2 and a half kilometers long, I recommend finding a hotel as close to Place Louise as possible.
The area is considered one of the most chic of the capital, it is full of high fashion shops and international restaurants of the highest class.
Other neighborhoods close to the historic center, recommended as a base to sleep in Brussels are: Sablon, Sainte Catherine e Marolles.
Template
Sablon is the antiques district, the Place du Grand-Sablon is the most touristic point of Brussels after the Grand Place. Every Saturday and Sunday morning the square hosts a very popular antiques market.
Place du Grand Sablon, is famous for the presence of elegant patisseries, typical restaurants, and chocolate shops.
Marolles
Marolles it is the district that most of all has retained the popular charm of Brussels, where a dialect that combines French with Flemish is still spoken. The area is full of restaurants, bars and pubs which are very popular in the evening.
Lovers of bargains cannot miss the famous flea market, which is held every Sunday morning in Place du Jeu de Balle,.
Dansaert e Sainte Catherine
Dansaert is the fashion district, with the hottest designer boutiques, vintage shops and art galleries. The Place Sainte Catherine area is renowned for its excellent fish restaurants.
The European Quarter
Another interesting area to stay for a visit to Brussels is the famous European district, located east of the historic center and is a succession of parks and modern administrative buildings of the European Union.
Close to the Leopold Park and the Cinquantenaire Park, there are some museums, while the Place du Luxembourg area is full of restaurants, cafes and breweries.
