Where to stay in Formentera

THE BEACHES OF FORMENTERA

Illetes beach

Considered the most beautiful beach in Formentera, can be reached by entering the Parco delle Saline, paying 4 euros for scooters and 8 for cars.

The beach is truly beautiful, white sand and crystal clear sea, I recommend arriving early in the morning to enjoy it with more tranquility.

Platja de Levante

Wide beach that is always inside the Saline Park, on the eastern side of the peninsula of It's Trucadors, on the other side of Illetes. Beautiful beach and sea, although sometimes high waves can form due to the wind.

Es Pujols

Excellent solution for those staying in the tourist center of Es Pujols, crystal clear sea with splendid colors as in the whole island. It is perhaps the best equipped beach in Formentera and also the most crowded, especially in August.

Cala Saona

Splendid cove set among the rocks, located on the west side of the island. It is not very big for this reason it is often crowded.

Migjorn Beach

The largest beach in Formentera, about 5 km, one of the most beautiful, with white sand and crystal clear waters. The best point is to Es Arenals.

Ses Platgetes (Es Calò De Sant Agustì)

Beautiful beach, with usual crystal clear waters near the village of Es Calò. Less suitable for children due to the difficult access due to the presence of rocks.

Es Calò d'es Mort

Small beach, very suggestive and with wonderful waters, with many fish, suitable for snorkelers. I recommend going there early in the morning.

HOW TO MOVE IN FORMENERA

Surely the best way to get around Formentera is the scooter.

As we have said, the island is small so if you want you could also go around by bike, but you need to have a good athletic preparation, because pedaling for kilometers under the scorching sun can be very tiring.

HOW TO REACH FORMENTERA

To reach Formentera you land at the airport of Ibiza and take the ferry. Ferries to Formentera depart every 30 minutes and take approximately 20 minutes.

You have finally chosen to visit the enchanting Formentera but you cannot understand what is the best area to stay in Formentera?

In this mini guide we will explain how the island is made, how to get around it, which are the most beautiful beaches and we will see how to choose the best place to sleep in Formentera.

Where to stay in Formentera

First of all it must be said that the island is quite small, it is about 25 km long, so it is easy to get around by moped.

The most convenient area to stay in Formentera is Es Pujols, because you can go around the island during the day to see the most beautiful beaches and in the evening you will avoid traveling by scooter. In fact, the evening life of Formentera focuses entirely on Es Pujols where there are restaurants, clubs and supermarkets. Es Pujols also has a beautiful beach served by all comforts.

If you choose Es Pujols as a place to stay in FormenteraHowever, I recommend not to take the accommodation in the center, where at night there is a lot of confusion due to the continuous passage of scooters.

NEAR HOTEL: ES PUJOLS

However, Es Pujols is also the most expensive area, if you are looking for good facilities at acceptable prices, this can be a solution La Savina, where there is the port. It is located just 5-10 minutes by scooter from Es Pujols and very close to the most beautiful beach in Formentera, Illetes beach.

Even the quaint village of It's Calo it is a good choice for those looking for a very quiet area and close to beautiful beaches.

More highly recommended places to stay in Formentera are the centers of Sant Francesc e San Ferran, both are located just 5 minutes by moped from Es Pujols.

For those looking for a relaxing holiday, served and revered, then you can stay in an all-inclusive resort like the Hotel Riu La Mola in the Migjorn area (see all hotels in Migjorn), where there is the largest beach.

Since the island is very small, I recommend choosing the area where to stay in Formentera also based on the offers and the type of structure, but bearing in mind that if you are looking for nightlife, even just a stroll through the shops, you will always have to move to It's Pujol.
