Where to Stay in Ubud: The Best Hotels (By Price Range)

Ubud is the cultural heart of Bali. It is quite common to see traditional Balinese ceremonies and there is always a rice field somewhere nearby.

Ubud is also one of the most interesting towns on the island, with a great selection of restaurants, cafes and fun activities aimed at people from all backgrounds. If you add us to this the luxuriant nature in which it is immersed, the incredible landscapes and the deep culture it is easy to see why so many people choose to stay in Ubud during their trip to Bali.

Although Ubud is small, the choice of where to sleep it can have a huge impact on your overall visitor experience.

For this, I have listed the best places to sleep in Ubud broken down by price ranges, from budget hotels to ultra-luxury resorts, villas and more.

Where to sleep in Ubud: an overview

When you are talking about where to sleep in Ubud, essentially means choosing between two options: stay in the village itself o stay on the outskirts.

Option 1: Stay in Ubud Village

There are many reasons for staying in Ubud Village. If this is your first time in Ubud, it will be easier to explore, eat in restaurants, shop and visit different spas. You'll also have easy access to the Ubud Monkey Forest.

Ubud's center is compact and easy to explore on foot, making it the ideal place to sleep if you don't want to rent a scooter or take taxis.

On the other hand, there are also some cons: the downside is that the city center is more touristy and crowded.

Option 2: Stay on the outskirts of Ubud

Outside the center you will find most of the luxury and mid-range hotels: some are not too far from the city, others a little more, but all have a fabulous feature (of the kind that I like).

These hotels are often immersed in the jungle o surrounded by rice fields and offer unique experiences to explore nature and the surrounding community. On the other hand, you will need to plan your transport and transfers well.

So is it better to stay in the city or outside? There is no right or wrong option, they are just different from each other and which one to choose depends essentially on what you prefer.

Ubud is a city where you can sleep in excellent hotels at an almost negligible price! While there are a few larger hotels outside the city (including luxury brands Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons), most of those found downtown are small guesthouses, villas, B & Bs, and hostels.

Many accommodation options in Ubud have pools, great amenities, and include breakfast.

luxury hotel

Virtually all luxury hotel (and what a luxury!) are located outside the town of Ubud, immersed in the jungle or among the rice fields.

They are located a bit isolated (15-20 minutes by car from Ubud center), but don't worry: almost everyone will provide guests with a free shuttle to the center, or they will call you a taxi.

They are perfect for those who want a completely relaxing holiday. All of them offer services of the highest level: infinity pools, SPA, various restaurant options. In practice, you could stay there for a week without having to take a step.
