The treasures of Paraguay: journey to a little-known countryTrip to Paraguay to discover the unknown treasures of this South American country

A little-known country full of treasures and beauties to discover: it is the Paraguay, pearl of the South America. The country has opened up to tourism very recently, after finding a relative political and economic stability. Paraguay on the other hand is a beautiful country, but marked by a past full of blood and conquests. Over the course of the 20th century, dictators and police states have succeeded one another in this area of South America, which in some way profoundly undermined security and serenity.

In recent years, however, Paraguay seems to have found the right path to rebirth, ready to offer its visitors breathtaking beauties and unique attractions in the world. In fact, here you can live completely in contact with nature, visiting the tropical forests and one of the eleven natural parks. Not just nature: Paraguay also hides architectural treasures created by Jesuits who arrived in the country in the 18th century to spread the Catholic confession.

In recent times the town has become the favorite destination for tourists sports enthusiasts. Not only for those who love football, but also for those who love doing physical activity, with excursions, climbing and abseiling among virgin forests, mountains and waterways. The activities also include walks, excursions, horseback riding and guided tours during which you can admire the fauna and flora, as well as the rural areas, located in the Chaco and in the great plain shared with Bolivia and Argentina.

The nerve center of the country is without a doubt Assumption, the capital rich in monuments from the pre-colonial era. The city stands on the Rìo Paraguay and is full of charm. In the historic center there are buildings of great historical value such as the government palace, National Pantheon of Heroes, House of Independence, the Palacio de los Lopez and the National Theater. Also worth seeing is the purple house, a colonial-style building that houses one of the city's best-known museums.

What makes Paraguay unmissable is also his kitchen, composed of simple but tasty dishes. The main food is meat, eaten mainly roasted and seasoned with corn, beans and rice. The fish is also excellent, to be eaten in the form of soup, accompanied by local liqueurs such as cana, prepared with cane sugar and honey.
