If you have decided to visit Armenia then you will be interested in knowing where to sleep in Yerevan, its capital and unmissable destination for those traveling to the area.
Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in 782 BC Today the Armenian capital is an emerging destination in the Eurasia region. It is a prosperous, cosmopolitan, vibrant city and a Caucasian destination famous for its nightlife.
Here the remnants of the past and modern buildings blend wonderfully with each other, many colorful shops and markets decorate the streets, and the life of the city comes alive with the many shows and operas that take place throughout the year. The Armenian capital hosts several festivals throughout the year and has more than 40 museums and galleries showcasing the country's history and its rich pictorial heritage. This is where most of the country's hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs are also located.
Yerevan is a great place to stay for exploring both the city and the surrounding central parts of the country, as distances and travel times are short. In fact, most tourists spend their nights here, regardless of where they travel during the day, as they tend to enjoy Yerevan's nightlife. Late at night the city swarms with people flocking to its outdoor cafes, eating, strolling or enjoying themselves in the many clubs.
The best area to sleep in Yerevan is its center, compact and fairly easy to navigate. This is where most of the attractions are located.
However, hotels tend to be expensive in the center of Yerevan, but even so it is difficult to find a free room in the high season. A good alternative is to rent an apartment, or to stay in a youth hostel or the locals' home.
If you have several days available, you can stay in places outside of Yerevan: for example, the cities of Echmiadzin or Ashtarak are fairly inexpensive options and only half an hour away from Yerevan using public transport.
Kentron is the district of Yerevan which includes the city center and is the best area for tourists. In this area you will find all the main attractions of Yerevan such as the famous one Opera House Republic Square with musical fountains, the Yerevan History Museum, Museum of Modern Art, the State University of Yerevan and the Blue Mosque.
This district has two metro stations, which allows visitors to easily reach other areas of the city. Most of the hotels in the city are located in the Kentron district, which makes it a great place to sleep in Yerevan.
Its only sore point is the price of the hotels. The center of Yerevan is also the most expensive area of the city.Find a hotel where to sleep in Kentron

Further outside the center of Yerevan is the Erebuni Fortress, whose name means "Fortress of blood". It is an ancient fortress that in the past was an important bulwark, while today it is a important archaeological site and city museum. The fortress itself dates back to 782 BC and is an important historical attraction in Yerevan. The museum adjacent to the fortress houses the finds from numerous local excavations including clothing, jewelry and pottery.
