Not very large, and with a population of around 60.000 inhabitants, in the summer period this peaceful destination is literally stormed by tourists, attracted by its scenic beauty and its artistic, historical and gastronomic treasures.

How to get to Budva and the most beautiful beaches

Budva can be reached from Italy by sea or by plane. If you are planning a road trip to Montenegro, you can take your car on the ferries that leave from Bari to Kotor, which is about 30 minutes from Budva. If you are departing from Ancona, however, the closest destination is Bar. Finally, if you prefer the convenience of the plane, we advise you to book a flight to Podgorica or Tivat, which are respectively an hour and half an hour away from the destination your holidays.

The main attraction of Budva are obviously its beaches: 17, and each unique in its own way. The most famous is that of Jez, which is the backdrop to important concerts such as the Sea Dance Festival. Becici, defined as "the most beautiful beach in Europe", is surrounded by palm trees and Mediterranean vegetation. The best equipped beaches, if you love comfort and relaxation, are those of Petrovac and Mogren, perfect for those who do not want to give up comfort. The wildest, finally, is that of Rezevic, little known to tourists and preferred by campers.

What to see in Budva

Budva is a city with very ancient origins, and its historic centre, characterized by narrow and cobbled streets, is particularly evocative. Its beating heart is the "Citadel”, in which the 12th century church of Santa Maria di Castello is located. The main symbol of the city, however, is considered “The Budva Dancer”, a statue located on the seashore, just outside the old city walls. According to the locals, rubbing it is a sign of good luck. Also very popular with visitors is the Mogren fortress, which is located 1 km west of the historic center, immediately after Mogren beach. Built in the XNUMXth century, and involved in both world wars due to its strategic position, it today offers a splendid panoramic view of the entire western coast of the Budva Riviera.

Se you love museums, however, you can choose between the city museum, which houses a large quantity of objects from the Greek, Roman and Byzantine era, or the maritime museum, with ships, maps and a large quantity of books. The modern gallery, located in the historic center, contains works of art not only from Montenegrin artists but also from all over Yugoslavia and other European countries. Finally, for shopping, we recommend a visit to TQ Plaza, the only shopping center in the city, or a walk in Mediteranska Street, with its colorful shops. If you're lucky, you might even come across the picturesque flea market that enlivens the city center with its stalls and antiques.

The nightlife

Budva is considered the Rimini of Montenegro due to its renowned nightlife and its cutting-edge premises. The most famous is the Trocadero, a four-story structure located in the city center and known for its plays of light. Equally renowned are the Club Emporio and the Club Paris, perfect for those who love good cocktails. There is no shortage of solutions even for those who prefer quieter evenings to the noise of the evenings discotheques. The atmosphere at the Old Fisherman's Club is rather informal, as is one of the numerous restaurants that crowd the place Budva seafront.
