The reasons for taking a nice trip are never few. The stressful life that we now lead leads us, more and more, to seek moments of escape to dedicate to ourselves and our family away from urgent commitments. Among the many European destinations there is one that we most feel to recommend and it is Barcelona, in the fantastic world of Gaudì.

A city that is loved or hated and that does not like half measures. The hot spirit of its inhabitants, its art and its history do not allow it.
But what to see in Barcelona? The Catalan city certainly stands out for its undulating architectural forms, which make it unique. All by the architect Gaudì who really made the city famous in the world. Among the works not to be missed are: Casa Batllò, Casa Milà, Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia. If the itinerary is longer, you should definitely take a ride on Montjuic with the funicular to admire the beauty of the city from its top. Or you can get lost in the hidden streets of the Barrio Gotico and among the stalls of the La Boqueria market. For contemporary art lovers the Picasso Museum is a must while modernism aficionados can satisfy their every thirst for art in the Guell Palace directly on La Rambla. It is necessary to pay a ticket for the visits and, in this regard, we recommend the Barcelona Card which you will find useful information on this page.

Antoni Gaudì, one of the greatest representatives of Catalan modernism, has really left his mark and, to date, there are many who identify the city itself with his works. The most emblematic, perhaps because it has not yet been completed since 1883, is the Sagrada Familia. Declared a minor basilica of Barcelona by Pope Benedict XVI, the church is a spectacle of forms and the triumph of the Gothic style mixed with other styles. Gaudì completely dedicated his last fifteen years of life to it. It is estimated that the work will be completed in 2026. Currently it can still be visited and in our opinion unmissable.

Barcelona is also famous for its nightlife. Barceloneta is certainly the most characteristic and touristic district in which to stroll to the sound of flamenco tasting tapas from bar to bar. Tapas are the equivalent of our "aperitifs". Traditionally born to accompany Cherry, the famous sweet cherry-based liqueur, today they are usually consumed more commonly with beer. Among the most frequent tapas you will find the “jamon serrano”, raw mountain ham cut with a knife or the famous tortilla de patatas, the equivalent of the onion and potato omelette. Among the most famous Spanish and Barcelona dishes, of course, Paella cannot be missing. A dish based on rice, vegetables, spices, meat and fish. There are several versions, including vegetarians.

And after visiting the major attractions, enjoying the delicious dishes in the nightlife district, Barceloneta, we recommend a nice walk on the Rambla. La Rambla is an avenue of Barcelona one kilometer and four hundred meters long that connects Plaça de Catalunya with the old port (Port Vell). We advise you to walk it all while enjoying the panorama and the various attractions along the way. You may happen to come across free flamenco shows or if you are passionate about them you can find them at a good price in different theaters in the city. There are also versions designed specifically for tourists.

There are still many reasons to visit Barcelona. A city that certainly requires several days to visit to be able to fully enjoy every aspect or perhaps to return a second time.

Barcelona can be visited all year round, on this page you will find data on the climate which generally has mild winters and hot but not excessively sultry summers thanks to the breezes coming from the sea. In our opinion, the ideal time to visit you is spring and summer.
