Between April and May the garden in the shadow of Mount Fuji is a spectacle
The Shibazakura Festival aka Pink Moss Festival is one of the most fabulous festivals offered by the flower calendar of Hokkaido Prefecture, the northernmost island of Japan (SEE THE MAP).
Visitors can walk on paths that cross huge fields of stunning, bright pink, on the hills overlooking the town of Takinoue. Every year, from the beginning of April to the beginning of May, Takinoue Park is covered with fiori di Shibazakura, originating from a single cassette containing seeds. The flowers reproduced and expanded to cover a surface of 100 thousand square meters.
The great Japanese garden it blooms all of a sudden with flowers that take on different colors, all in the different shades and tones of pink, from candy to fuchsia. There are approximately 800 thousand flowers of five varieties throughout the park.
The garden is crossed by a series of paths that allow visitors to follow different itineraries among the flowering meadows in the shadow of Mount Fuji which can be glimpsed on the horizon.
In Japanese Shiba means meadow and sakura cherry. The color of the flowers of Pink Moss Festival resembles that of cherry blossoms, another spectacle of nature offered by the Land of the Rising Sun.
Lo Shibazakura Festival it represents one of the rare occasions to see this type of flowering in such a large space. Even more so the location is spectacular: a few kilometers from Lake Motosuko, in an area called 'of the Five Lakes', with Mount Fuji as a backdrop on the clearest days.
