In Japan there is a hill that turns pink every yearIn the beautiful Higashimokoto park, in Japan, every year a hill turns pink thanks to a particular plant

A land of peculiar traditions and fairy-tale wonders is undoubtedly Japan. There are many masterpieces of nature that this spectacular nation offers, such as the famous cherry blossoms. But the truth is that something even more surprising happens in these parts: a beautiful and soft pink carpet that comes to life on a hill in the parco di Higashimokoto.

A truly heavenly scenario that certainly does not go unnoticed. To admire it, just reach the town of Takinoue, on the island of Hokkaido, the northernmost of the Japanese islands, and prepare for a show that will catapult you straight into a dream.

It will be like walking on an enchanting pink expanse which is revealed to the eyes of travelers thanks to the Phlox Subulata, an evergreen plant which in the months of May and June is capable of creating truly fairy-tale landscapes.

At first glance they would appear to be cherry blossom petals, but in fact this little paradise is the result of the work of Mr Sueyoshi, who in 1947 began planting the seeds of an unusual pink moss, bringing to light a unique park of its kind and which from 1956 pays homage to the color of sakura.

Nowadays it is possible to sail this incredible scented expanse for approximately 100.000 square meters, even if the best period to enjoy all this harmony is precisely that of the flowering of May and June, during which even a fair dedicated to floriculture.

An unusual walk with an enchanting atmosphere which, through some winding paths, leads, thanks to a staircase of 287 steps, to the Yamazumi sanctuary from where it is also possible to admire an absolutely breathtaking panorama.

But this is not the only spectacle observable near the island of Hokkaido. This, in fact, is an area rich in natural and floral parks, a territory not subject to any of the typical characteristics that can be attributed to the Japanese nation, to the point of being almost a separate ecosystem.

In short, it is truly a magical place that every year also offers fragrant pink carpets that can be crossed thanks to a long snake that offers wonderful plays of color and three-dimensional optical effects that reach straight to the heart.
