    Who makes one Caribbean cruise on board an MSC ship you can now stop on a private island paradise. Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, an islet in the Bahamas, has just opened and welcomed its first guests.

    The cruise line has transformed what it was a former industrial site used for the extraction of sand at a splendid tropical destination. Working with environmental engineers and other experts, she managed to revitalize the ocean floor, marine fauna and coral that were in danger of extinction.



    The sustainable development of Ocean Cay was a one-of-a-kind project that required three years of work for the reclamation and transformation of the island, making it today able to offer the best possible experience to cruise passengers.
    During the cleanup process, 7.500 tons of metal waste were removed and a team of expert divers and marine biologists carefully removed individual hard coral colonies from debris in the sea, transferring them to more suitable and uncontaminated seabeds. Actions have been taken to foster a highly biodiverse and sustainable environment, planting more than 75.000 plants and shrubs across the island.

    Once you get to this exclusive earthly paradise, guests can admire breathtaking views, infinite blue shades of the sea, white beaches and uncontaminated nature.

    From early morning until late evening, they have plenty of time to immerse themselves in the spirit of the Bahamas and organize their day according to their preferences.

    They can choose from many different ones shore excursions or discover marine life and go snorkelling or paddle boarding or kayaking in the crystal clear sea. Those who want can also treat themselves to a magnificent spa treatment or relax in a private cabana on the beach.



    They can stroll through the village to learn about the traditional crafts of the artisans or grab a bite to eat in the Seakers Food Court or in one of the six food trucks around the island, enjoying cocktails and drinks from the bars. Finally, you can take part in evening events, such as the traditional Junkanoo parades and lighthouse light shows.


    A new one will also be inaugurated on the island shortly Conservation Center, which will deal with the study and research on corals.


    There are four MSC Cruises ships that will call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve on different days of the week: the MSC Armonia, MSC Divina, MSC Seaside and MSC Meraviglia.
