In the Northern Hemisphere there are the Northern Lights, in the south there is the Southern Lights, a phenomenon that lights up the night skies with shades that change from green to blue, from purple to red. But the great thing is that the Southern Lights, unlike the other, are visible in every month of the year, although there are some periods in which it is more likely to be admired. For example from May to August, but also in winter and during the spring equinox.
Furthermore the Southern Lights are characterized by brighter colors and countless shades. The reason why it is less known than the other is due to the fact that, although it can be seen several times a year, the places suitable for this purpose are fewer in number than those in the north, where the phenomenon of light pollution is less widespread.
In English it is called “Southern lights” and originates from particles coming from the Sun trapped by the Earth's magnetic field. The lights that can be admired, and which make it so extraordinary, are formed in the outer band of the atmosphere.
E the further south you go, towards Tasmania, the more likely you are to see it, especially if you position yourself in poorly lit and large places. A privileged location to admire it is for example Bruny Island, in Tasmania, where urban pollution is minimal and nature is wild. The perfect place for a killer Southern Lights!
But it's not the only one, even the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, also in Tasmania, is perfect for observing it as well Satellite Island, an islet that allows you to admire the sky in all its splendor. The only "problem", in this case, is that to stay there you have to rent the entire island! Or even the Bathurst Harbour which is quite far from the various cities and where, therefore, urban pollution is practically absent.
