Chania the most evocative city of the Greek island of Crete

Chania (or Hania) is the most suggestive city on the island of Crete, with its pretty Venetian quarter, crossed by narrow alleys that lead to the magnificent port. The historic center contains the remains ofVenetian and Turkish architecture, with old houses transformed into quaint restaurants and antique boutiques into hotels.

While all of this means a flood of tourists for the old town in the summer, it still is a great place to relax. The excellent local craftsmanship still allows for good shopping. Along the streets of Zambeliou, Theotokopoulou and Angelou, Venetian roofless buildings have been transformed into open-air restaurants. The venetian port it's a good place for a stroll, dotted with galleries and museums.

Chania is definitely a destination and city to see and experience during travel and holidays on the beautiful island of Crete in Greece. The best time to visit the island is from April to June and from September to November, with the months of May and October certainly to be recommended for those who have no problem with choice.
