With 3/4 million tourists a year, it is one of the busiest areas in all of Indonesia to choose from. where to sleep in bali Finding the right area is very important, as the decision can make it wonderful or ruin the trip.

Bali is, however, despite the crowds, a paradise, with its rice terraces cascading down volcanic slopes, flaming sunsets, the sea lapping at white sandy beaches and a unique and pervasive culture that dominates the island despite the continued growth of tourism.

The Island of the Gods has much more to offer than luxury resorts and is small enough to get around even during the day, although I recommend moving around and staying in different areas to really maximize your time in Bali.

Whether you have decided to visit Bali for the amazing luxury hotels and resorts, to surf and dive, to explore the mountain scenery and ancient temples, you are sure to find an area in Bali that is perfect for you.

Most backpackers opt for hedonistic Kuta, while well-heeled vacationers flock to posh Seminyak for cocktail lounges and boutique hotels. Those traveling with children to Bali tend to gravitate toward areas with calm waters, such as Nusa Dua, Jimbaran or Sanur.

Yoga enthusiasts and hippies flock to Ubud looking for their version of "Eat Pray Love." Hardcore surfers love to hang out in Uluwatu because that's where the best waves are, while divers head straight to Tulamben in the north.

After the months I lived (and traveled) I wrote this post to help you, depending on what you are looking for, to choose the best area to stay in bali.

  • The best zone of bali to sleep: Ubud
  • The best place in Bali for couples or honeymooners: Jimbaran
  • Where to sleep in Bali with children: Nusa Dua
  • Where to sleep for nightlife: Seminyak
  • Where to sleep on a budget: Kuta
  • Where to stay in Bali for surfing: Uluwatu

North of Bali: which area to choose:

Amed

Amed remains a quiet and authentic area, a fishing village that has been developing in tourism in recent years.

Amed is particularly suitable for snorkeling and diving . There are several beach restaurants where you can relax in the evening while admiring the imposing Agung volcano.

The beaches are black volcanic pebbles, but the waters are particularly transparent.

In addition, Amed is also the fastest and cheapest starting point to go to the Gili Islands.

Particularly recommended is the Jemeluk Beach area where the sea is very beautiful and offers the opportunity to explore the seabed just meters from the shore.

Amed continues being a good option to lodge in Bali for those that look for a place far from the tourism of masses. For the lovers of the snorkeling and for all that one that knows a little to adapt. I recommend to choose a good hotel because the standards of quality are not very high here.

Important: Amed is very close to the Agung volcano, so given the recent eruptions it is preferable to monitor the situation.

South of Bali: that zone to choose

Canggu

Canggu is a new zone, a few years ago there was practically nothing but rice fields.

In the last years, the zone has been filled with bars, restaurants and cafeterias of fashion.

Canggu is perfect for those who want to learn to surf, there are many surf schools and the waves are especially suitable for beginners. I can assure you that I have personally tried them.

Gili

As we have seen, the sea of Bali is characterized mainly by turbulent waters and is ideal for surf lovers. There are some beaches with calmer sea but if you look for crystalline waters where to make snorkeling and to admire the wonderful marine bottom it is better to opt for the near ones. Gili Island.

Although the opinions about the Gilis are varied, I liked them a lot. In particular I have been on Gili Trawangan, the most touristic. The island is quite chaotic, full of restaurants, but there are also quieter and calmer areas with perfect places to swim with turtles and many tropical fish.

The best zone to sleep in Bali: Ubud

Located to the north of Sanur, in the high lands of the island is the cultural and artistic center of Bali, Ubud. Once a quiet artists' village, it has now become a mini-metropolis thanks to tourism, made famous by Julia Roberts in the hit movie "Eat, Pray, Love".

Despite this, given its central location on the island, Ubud is one of the best places to sleep to explore the surrounding region. full of temples, rice paddies and mountains. In the city of Ubud itself, there is also a hodgepodge of interesting museums and temples that are among the best in Bali.

Ubud is also famous for traditional crafts and dance. The main street of the city is dotted with art galleries that exhibit the most precious Balinese art and sculptures.

It is easy to rent a car with driver to visit the incredible nearby attractions, like the sculptures of Gunung Kawi or the more distant and less visited areas, like rice terraces of Jatiluwih, a UNESCO World Heritage site or other attractions created by the man, like the zoo in bali.

The transfers in minibus, the treks and the tours in mountain bike are shorter and cheaper from Ubud than in the cities more to the south.

When talking about where to sleep in Ubud, it essentially means choosing between two options: stay in the town itself or stay in the outskirts.

Option 1: Stay in Ubud Village

There are many reasons to stay in Ubud Village. If this is your first time in Ubud, it will be easier to explore, eat at restaurants, shop and visit different spas. You will also have easy access to the Ubud Monkey Forest.

The center of Ubud is compact and easy to explore on foot, which makes it the ideal place to sleep if you don't want to rent a scooter or take a cab.

On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages: the downside is that the city center is more touristy and crowded.

Option 2: stay in the outskirts of Ubud

Outside the center you will find most of the luxury and mid-range hotels: some are not very far from the city, others a bit further, but all have a fabulous feature (the kind I like).

These hotels are often immersed in the jungle or surrounded by rice fields and offer unique experiences to explore nature and the surrounding community. On the other hand, you will need to plan your transportation and transfers well.

So, is it better to stay in town or out of town? There is no right or wrong choice, they are simply different from each other and which one to choose essentially depends on what you prefer.

Ubud is a city where you can sleep in excellent hotels at an almost negligible price. While there are some larger hotels outside the city (including the luxury brands Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons), most of those in the center are small guesthouses, villas, B&Bs and hostels.

Many accommodation options in Ubud have swimming pools, excellent amenities and include breakfast.

Best Cheap Hotels in Ubud

Krisna House

Krisna House: Located near the heart of Ubud, Krisna House offers affordable, clean and modern rooms. Facilities include an outdoor pool with sun loungers, perfect for relaxing during the day. All in all, one of the best choices among budget hotels in Ubud.

Villa Siwaya: Rent your beautiful villa for less than 40 euros per night. Its location surrounded by rice fields and the large swimming pool make Villa Siwaya a little piece of paradise. It is within walking distance of the center of Ubud, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet or immerse yourself in the bustling city, whichever you prefer.

In Ubud you will find an almost endless variety of cheap hotels and hostels. Not all of them are good, so choose carefully before booking. It's also not uncommon for hotel rooms to cost less than a place in a shared dorm in a hostel.

Although, given hotel prices, I would prefer a mid-budget hotel, I sought out the best budget accommodations in town.

1 - En Da Lodge

Its location near the picturesque Tjampuhan fiume and the famous White Museum makes En Da Lodge a great hotel for visitors to Ubud.

The lodge rooms are spacious, finely furnished in Balinese style and are located in five villas within the property. All have free Wi-Fi and balconies.

Guests can relax at the lodge's bar after a long day visiting Ubud or enjoy the delicious rigorously homemade traditional dishes.

2 - Gogo Backpakers House

Gogo Backpackers House is a small, clean and friendly hostel located in the center of Ubud and especially suitable for young and budget travelers. The family that runs it does their best to offer their guests the best: don't hesitate to ask for information, they will be happy to give you useful suggestions about things to see in Ubud.

The beds in the bedrooms are very comfortable with privacy curtains, individual lights, sockets and lockers. It's a bit off the road, so it's a fairly quiet place and the breakfast is delicious. If you really want to sleep in a hostel, this is definitely the best.

3 - Villa Omah Lembu

Remote and quiet Villa Cow House is a 20 minute drive from the center of Ubud. There are numerous rooms and villas available offering a tranquil experience.

The property is surrounded by the dense rainforest of the area and it is possible to take bicycles (free) to explore the area.

While it is a simple place, attention to detail is taken care of and it is one of those places that when you leave you have a bit of magone, because they seem almost "home" to you.

Another of the best low cost options near Ubud.

4 - Villa Siwaya

With a large swimming pool and immersed in the rice fields, and for less than 40 euros a night, Villa Siwaya is a little piece of paradise in Bali! It is a short walk from the center of Ubud, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet or immerse yourself in the bustling city as you wish.

All villas have equipped kitchens; there is, in addition to the outdoor, an indoor pool (for when it rains even though I like to stay in the rain) and free WI-FI.

Villa Siwaya is one of the highest rated accommodations in terms of value for money on Booking.com.

5 - Rahayu Bungalow

I Bungalows Rahayu are located on Jalan Hanoman, just a few minutes walk from the Monkey Forest. The hotel rooms offer air conditioning, hot water, showers, towels and breakfast is served in your room.

Guests can enjoy breakfast on their private porches overlooking the garden. The independent bungalows that house the rooms (very bright thanks to the huge windows) are separated from each other, ensuring maximum privacy for guests.

6 - Jiwa's house

Located less than five minutes from the center of Ubud, Jiwa's House is another excellent low-cost accommodation for people who want to be in the center of town life.

Rooms are clean and elegantly furnished with canopy beds and offer easy access to the hotel's small pool.

7 - Jati Home Stay

Jati Home Stay is owned by an established artist, Dewa Nyoman Jati, who transformed this house in the artist community of Padang Tegal into an artistic and welcoming family home. The place really looks like a work of art, as the rooms are decorated and furnished with handmade furniture by Jati.

The property offers ten rooms with fan, hot and cold water and private bathrooms. Rooms have balconies or terraces overlooking the rice fields. A koi canal runs through the property and its garden. WiFi is available in the cafeteria and other public areas of the property.

Best mid-range hotels in Ubud

Sri Ratih Cottages: This relaxing three-star resort is located west of central Ubud and offers rooms and suites of varying standards. Rooms are new, clean and decorated in Balinese style. There is also a swimming pool and spa, making it a great place to rest and relax.

Green Field Hotel

Green Field Hotel e ristorante: Surrounded by rice paddies, the Green Field Hotel and Restaurant is a three-star resort located south of central Ubud. Rooms range from cozy and more economical to spacious and luxurious, with some rooms offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Biyukukung Suite and Spa: Ten minutes from Ubud's Monkey Forest, this hotel overlooks Balinese rice fields. For the price, this is a pretty luxurious option.

I bet after seeing the luxury hotels in Ubud, moving on to the lower-end ones you have a bit of Magone - don't worry, it happens to me too!

In this case, however, for mid-range hotels you have many options and also spend less you can get the most you can imagine.

In fact, you can find a wide selection of three- and four-star hotels at great prices, many of which feature comfortable rooms and luxury amenities like outdoor pools, spas, yoga areas and more.

1 - Biyukukung Suite & Spa

Ten minutes from Ubud's monkey forest, this hotel overlooks Balinese rice fields. For the price, this is a fairly luxurious option, with a pool and a few on-site restaurants.

Biyukukung Suites & Spa is "blessed" by the stunning scenery of the rice paddies. Very close to the center of Ubud and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the hotel also bets as an eco-friendly resort supporting some projects with the local population.

All rooms are similar: small and classically furnished with comfortable beds that open onto a private balcony overlooking the rice field. Bathrooms are much better in the deluxe rooms.

Rooms are clean and, although some look old (but recently renovated), the bamboo bungalows are charming and traditionally built.

2 - Sri Ratih Cottages

This relaxing three-star resort is located west of the center of Ubud and offers a wide range of rooms and suites. The rooms are new, clean and decorated in Balinese style.

There is also a swimming pool and spa, making Sri Ratih an ideal place to rest and relax after a day of cycling through the rice fields.

3 - Alamdini Resort Ubud

The jungle-facing balcony suites at this beautiful resort have excellent reviews and are definitely one of my top picks in Ubud. There's a large outdoor pool overlooking lush tropical vegetation and it's within walking distance to downtown Ubud for stores and restaurants.

The Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, the rooms are elegant and attention to detail, the hotel restaurant offers dishes and delicacies of local cuisine.

Given its location, this is the ideal hotel for those who wish to experience the city fully and perhaps return to the resort for rest or sleep.

4 - Patria Bhishma 2

Il Patria Bhishma 2 is one of the best mid-range resorts in Ubud, offering high-end amenities such as an outdoor infinity pool and excellent views of the surrounding rainforest. The rooms and villas, set in tropical gardens, are comfortable and tastefully decorated and offer a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere.

In the resort you can enjoy 2 swimming pools, free wireless internet, own restaurant (serving traditional dishes). The reception is open 24/24 and you can take advantage of the shuttle service (for a fee).

Just 15 minutes walk from the center of Ubud, Pertiwi Bisma 2 is one of the best located mid-range resorts in the area. In short, another great choice!

5 - Artotel Haniman Ubud

Just steps from the Monkey Forest, this modern hotel is clean, with a restaurant, bar and pool. Compared to many hotels in Ubud, this one is different, with its quirky artistic theme and colorful artwork on the walls.

The hotel is non-smoking, the reception is open 24h / 24 and, given its excellent location, is a good starting point for visiting the surrounding area of Ubud.

I love the look of their spacious studios with balconies; it seems like the perfect choice for couples looking for a place to stay in Ubud.

Best Luxury Hotels in Ubud

1 - Kayumanis Ubud Private Villas & Spa

Kayumanis Ubud Private Villas & Spa is located on the outskirts, just a 10-15 minute drive from Ubud town (the hotel offers free transportation) and thanks to its quiet and secluded location, it offers spectacular views of the rainforest landscape.

Walking through the lush pathways, the gates of the resort open onto private courtyards with sitting and dining areas, beautiful pools and villas. Taking a stroll through the park, it doesn't even seem like there are 23 villas (strictly inspired by Balinese villages) located in the surrounding forests.

On-site dining options are diverse and high quality, making it easy to spend all day at the resort relaxing and enjoying all the amenities.

If you are looking for privacy, luxury and a relaxing atmosphere, you will have no problem finding them at Kayumanis.

2 - Hanging Gardens of Bali

Anyone who is thinking of sleeping in Ubud has probably heard of the Hanging Gardens of Bali. This is a famous hotel of luxury, also immersed in the environment of the jungle. The ambience and the views are sublime.

The bright, one-, two- or three-bedroom villas have river views and wooden balconies offering jungle views or private plunge pools.

The edges of the main infinity pool seem to hang over the valley. Although it feels like you're in a remote location, the hotel is actually just a 10-minute drive from Ubud.

3 - Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

As expected of a Ritz-Carlton property, Mandapa is an incredible luxury resort that boasts some of the best suites, villas and facilities of any hotel in Ubud.

Smaller rooms (so to speak) measure from 100 square meters and offer excellent views of the rice paddies and dense rainforest surrounding Ubud. The resort is a short drive northwest of town, with a tranquil setting that makes it perfect for romantic getaways.

If you are looking for a world-class resort, Mandapa is definitely the first one to consider. A dream.

4 - Four Seasons Resort Bali in Sayan

Since we are talking about the most luxurious hotels in Ubud, we can't fail to mention the Four Seasons Resort Bali: The hotel is a ten-minute drive from the center of town, in the most beautiful part of the jungle and boasts world-class facilities, including beautiful infinity pools, spacious villas, a spa and excellent restaurants.

This hotel is also the one I recommend the most for your honeymoon, as I would say it is one of the most unique places to stay in Ubud. check it out!

5 - Natya Resort Ubud

Slightly cheaper, the Natya Resort Ubud offers private villas and suites similar to Mandapa and Kayumanis but at a much lower price (about half the cost). The villas are large and luxurious and also have private pools and views of the surrounding rainforest.

The resort offers a variety of high quality restaurants, which means you can also avoid going all the way to Ubud (which is not far, about a 15 minute drive) and can spend your days relaxing here.

Being one of the top rated luxury resorts in Ubud, due to its standard and price, it is best to book as soon as possible to avoid being sold out.

6 - The Kayon Jungle Resort by Pramana

The Kayon Jungle Resort by Pramana Embraces the best of Ubud. The resort is decorated with reliefs and statues from the Ramayana epic and, along with the delicate traditional architecture, creates a serene and romantic ambiance. Guests can practice yoga in the pavilion, watch traditional performances or take a dip in the infinity pool.

The Kayon is one of those resorts that you look up on the Internet and think "I'm going here for my honeymoon!" However, if you can afford to spend a few days here, whether it's your honeymoon or not, don't miss this opportunity.

Best place to sleep in Bali for couples or honeymooners: Jimbaran

By Yusnizam Yusof /

Located just a 10-minute drive from the airport, Jimbaran is where most people choose to sleep at least a couple of nights after their arrival or before they leave. Once a small fishing village with a daily market, it is now home to several five-star beach resorts.

Despite the proximity to the airport, Jimbaran is a quiet and romantic place, with its long white sand beach ideal for sunbathing (and with the most beautiful sunsets) and good quality (but a bit pricey) seafood restaurants.

Every evening, the beach is lined with tables and chairs, while seaside cafes offer romantic candlelit dinners with fresh seafood, as well as fireworks, wandering musicians and traditional dancing.

Cheap hotels in Jimbaran

Casa sakura jimbaran: Sakura Jimbaran features an outdoor pool, a restaurant and a bar. It offers a free scheduled shuttle service to Jimbaran Beach, which is about 5 minutes away. Wi-Fi is free in public areas of the property.

Average hotel in Jimbaran

Keraton Jimbaran Resort

Keraton Jimbaran Resort: This resort is quite luxurious and Balinese style, but costs less than hotels of the same level. The reason I suppose is that the rooms are a bit older than many of the newer hotels in Bali.

Villa one hundred: Villa Seratus, located in the coastal area of Ungasan, offers an outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi. Rooms at Villa Seratus feature air conditioning, a terrace overlooking the private pool, flat-screen TV, safe and private bathroom.

luxury hotel in Jimbaran

The Villas in Ayana

InterContinental Bali Resort: InterContinental Bali is a resort with a traditional Balinese design, lovely gardens and a beautiful pool area. Especially especially for the attention to detail.

The Villas at Ayana Resort: Imagine having your own private villa in one of the most beautiful resorts in Jimbaran. Well, this is exactly what you will get if you choose The Villas at Ayana, absolute luxury.

Where to sleep in Bali with children: Nusa Dua

By nikjvt /

Most resorts in Nusa Dua promote romantic vacations, with special offers for newlyweds and "honeymoon suites," but your hotel could be swamped with families because Nusa Dua is also one of the most popular places to sleep with kids.

In bilico in the south end of Bali, this area has the best beaches of the island: great empty extensions of white pearly sand and transparent and transparent waters.

Nusa Dua has two separated parts: thetourist zone fenced that is far from everything, e Tanjung Benoa, that counts on several stores and local restaurants. The gated area is where all the five-star hotel chains are located side by side.

The dozens of exclusive resorts in Nusa Dua are ideal for families, each with a children's pool (often with water slides) and a kids' club offering engaging activities as well as extensive menus and childcare services.

Just to the north, the resort region of Tanjung Benoa is a cheaper version of Nusa Dua and is arguably more appealing to teenagers due to its wide range of affordable water sports.

Cheap hotels in Nusa Dua

House of D16Ifyou are on a budget, this is the cheapest accommodation available in Nusa Dua and the only hostel in the area. House of D16 is simple but has everything you need in a hostel. It is located right in the heart of Nusa Dua and offers stunning views of the islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

Average hotel in Nusa Dua

The Homestay Bali has private rooms surrounded by lush, manicured gardens. The property has a patio and balconies overlooking the garden in each room. The staff will be happy to help you plan trips around Bali.

Palm Garden Bali

Palm Garden Bali is one of the best places to stay in Bali. It offers a tranquil setting just a 2-minute walk from the beach with an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi throughout and free shuttle service. All rooms are air-conditioned and overlook the pool.

Luxury hotel in Nusa Dua

Courtyard by Marriott

Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua: The resort offers 244 deluxe rooms and 6 locally charming suites with unique paintings by Gede Putra Udiyana, a well-known Balinese artist from Denpasar that add to the feeling of a luxury vacation. Each spacious room offers a private balcony, garden terrace or terrace with direct access to the pool, allowing guests to enjoy the fresh air and surrounding natural beauty.

Cinnamon Nusa Dua

Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa: a serene ambiance of quiet refinement and understated elegance. An exclusive enclave of luxuriously furnished pavilions, each offering unparalleled space, exceptional comfort and total privacy within the walled gardens.

Grand Hyatt Bali: This complex overlooks one of the longest and most beautiful beaches on the island: curved, sheltered and shaded. The rooms are located in "villages" of traditional design distributed in a vast extension of lawns, gardens and ponds. The spacious rooms feature sleek, modern Asian decor (not necessarily Balinese) and large balconies/patios overlooking the sea or gardens.

Where to sleep for nightlife: Seminyak

Di Setiono Joko Purwanto /

Seminyak is the nightlife capital of Bali, but is a much more upscale version of Kuta (the backpacker party town).

Although it has become much more touristy in the last years, its atmosphere continues being relatively calm and relaxed and is known by its boutiques that border the main street, the restaurants of world-wide class and bars and beach clubs. Having a sunset drink on the beach (sitting on a bean bag!) is something that every first-time visitor to Bali should include in their itinerary.

Here you will also find the famous beach clubs Ku De Ta and Cara de Papa that attract famous DJs from around the world. Chic hotels like the W Retreat & Spa have attracted international attention.

This area is also full of luxury villas, which are often much cheaper than you might imagine. If you're looking for luxury resorts and trendy cocktail bars, this is the place for you.

Cheap hotels in Seminyak

Juada Garden: Villas at this property cost around $130 per night (with private pool), but also offer double and twin rooms. Located just 10 minutes from Double Six Beach, this property is in a great location. The double room offers air conditioning, wifi and private bathroom.

Nadialit: This typical Balinese-style guesthouse is pleasant and simple. The property offers a terrace, airport shuttle service, daily maid service and breakfast. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with tiled floors, air-conditioning and balconies.

Average hotel in Seminyak

ER Villa Bali

ER Villa Bali: This property has all the luxuries of an expensive place, but offers guests a more "homey" feel. The outdoor pool is perfect for warm days, while the rooms offer air conditioning and beautiful furnishings. Here you'll be just a 10-minute walk from Seminyak and Petitenget Beach and close to restaurants and bars.

Sleepwell Seminyak: Rooms are comfortable, tastefully decorated, and furnishings are modern. Tiled floors keep the room cool, but if it's too hot, there's air-conditioning. The property is 1 kilometer from Seminyak beach and close to bars and other restaurants, but if you don't feel like commuting, there is a restaurant on site.

Seminyak Hideaway: This traditional Balinese-style accommodation is very cozy. The rooms are spacious and clean and air-conditioned, and the property is only a 6-minute walk from the beach! Bicycle and car rentals are available here.

Hotel of luxury in Seminyak

Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort is a boutique hotel with only 60 rooms, perfect for couples. Not to mention it is right on Seminyak beach and the views of the beach are amazing. Anantara Seminyak also has a great spa and a rooftop restaurant/bar, MoonLite Kitchen and Bar.

Pimientos Seminyak is a villa / hotel hybrid, combining the best of both worlds. With 48 villas, restaurant, gym, SPA and pool (all villas also have their own pool!), you are sure to have an unforgettable stay.

The Legian Bali

The Legian Bali is an iconic hotel, but don't let the name fool you, it's actually in Seminyak. And it's in a great location, right on the beach and close to stores, restaurants and beach clubs. A beautiful 5-star hotel with excellent reviews.

Where to stay on a budget: Kuta

Di Netfalls Remy Musser /

I put Kuta as a place to spend little in bali essentially because it is close to the airport, full of nightclubs, bars, small stores and lots of bargain opportunities. There are plenty of accommodation and shopping options at good prices and located right on the beach.

I honestly don't like it and don't want to advise you to go there unless you are very young, want to spend very little and are mainly interested in clubs and nightlife.

Once a simple rustic fishing village, Kuta is now filled with a myriad of accommodation, dining and entertainment options. The long beach with consistent waves attracts surfers from all over the world and is perfect for beginners. There are endless options for rentals and lessons.

Many activities in Kuta focus on nightlife and shopping. Here you will find the highest concentration of clubs like the famous Sky Bar and large shopping malls. It is the perfect city if you are a young traveler on a tight budget. If you have more time and a little more money to spend, I recommend you go to Seminyak.

The best budget hotels in Kuta

Lusa Hotel in Kuta Beach: Quiet and convenient; popular for its large pool and affordable mid-range facilities.

Bungalow Suji: Comfortable, quiet and ideal for families, with Balinese-style villas and affordable rooms overlooking sprawling grounds that envy some 5-star resorts.

Heaven Cottages HotelAlwayspopular for its central but quiet location and friendly staff.

Where to Sleep for Surfing: Uluwatu

Di witaya ratanasirikulcha /

Bali may be famous for its beaches and rice fields, but it was surfers who first discovered this beautiful Indonesian island. The best waves of the island are in the southwest end of the peninsula of Bukit in Bali.

Padang Beach has the kind of waves that surfers dream of. However, be aware that Neptune is fierce and only experienced surfers should attempt to brave the waters around the Bukit Peninsula.

Cheap hotels in Uluwatu

Casa Karma Backpacker is located right in the center of Uluwatu, a 10-15 minute drive from many beaches. It is within walking distance of many inexpensive restaurants, supermarkets and spas. The common area is large and the hostel is very sociable with beers and snacks available for purchase on the property.

Home-Bience Hostel: Home-Bience Hostel offers dormitory accommodation, but also private rooms. Not far from Dreamland Beach, you can also relax in the garden. Breakfast is included and it is one of the top rated hostels in Uluwatu.

Average hotel in Uluwatu

Adila Bali: Adila Bali is a boutique hotel located in a quiet area. I stayed here for a weekend, which I enjoyed very much! The staff was lovely, the pool amazing and the views were worth it. They offer different types of rooms and breakfast is included.

Wisesa Uluwatu Barn offers unique private rooms / bungalows. If you are looking for something quirky, unique and different, this is an excellent choice. It is located near Dreamland Beach and breakfast is included.

If you prefer to stay in a unique, modern and well-designed place, why not stay at Bali Sugar Villa? Not very far from the beach of Padang, you can opt for a room in this incredible villa. Breakfast is included.

Hotel of luxury in Uluwatu

Suarga Padang Padang: In the south of Uluwatu is located Suarga Padang Padang on top of a cliff of 200 meters that is only 2 minutes walk from the beach. This boutique resort was designed to be eco-sustainable and have minimal impact on the environment. Each room has a private balcony or terrace with an in-room lounge so guests can enjoy the stunning ocean views. The hotel also features 2 swimming pools, a lounge bar and a restaurant with a view.

Burlgari Resort Bali

Bulgari Resort Bali: Another great option to consider would be the Bulgari Resort Bali given the perfect location and private beach. It is modern, quiet and certainly ideal if you are traveling with your partner.

Klapa Resort is one of the most popular resorts on Booking.com and for good reason. The hotel is perched on a cliff just a few minutes walk from Dreamland Beach. Rooms are large with sofas in a living room and each has a balcony. The hotel is located within a 5-star golf course. Facilities include a pool, restaurant and bar serving Indonesian, Chinese and Western dishes.
