Niagara Falls: Lato Canadese (ON)

Where to Stay in Niagara Falls

The Canadian side is the one from which it enjoys the best view of Niagara Falls. In fact it is usually the ideal choice where to sleep at Niagara Falls.

The Canadian town of Niagara Falls is itself a tourist attraction. It is a miniature Las Vegas, with playgrounds, restaurants, pubs, casinos and lots of entertainment for everyone, young and old. The Canadian side also offers the best vantage point on the falls: la Skylon Tower.

Also from an accommodation standpoint, Niagara Falls (ON) offers a wider choice of high-quality facilities than the neighboring American side.

The best area to look for the hotel is around Fallsview Boulevard where you will find most of the hotels overlooking the falls, with obviously higher prices.

Alternatively you can evaluate the area of Clifton Hill, it is very close to the waterfalls and the most touristic district with many attractions, restaurants and the famous Ferris wheel which with its 50 meters high offers a priceless view!

Niagara Falls (NY) Lato USA

The American city of Niagara Falls (NY) is much less touristy than its Canadian twin.

The hotels are generally a little further away from the falls and do not offer the panoramic view. Furthermore, the quality of the facilities is a bit lower and there is less choice.

However, the atmosphere is much calmer and the landscape greener. There are also nature trails to reach the waterfalls, such as the Grotta dei Venti, accessible only from May to October.

For those who want a less chaotic area in a more natural setting, staying in Niagara Fall on the American side is the right choice. It is also convenient if you have to continue your journey to the United States, without crossing the border again.

Bear in mind that you can still visit the Canadian side by crossing the Rainbow Bridge.

Niagara on the Lake

Niagara on the Lake is located about 20 minutes from the falls and is one of the must-see attractions in the area. A quaint town in Art Nouveau style, full of restaurants, cafes and shops. Unlike nearby Niagara Falls, the atmosphere here is more relaxing, less chaotic and never crowded.

Do not miss the road of vineyards and wine cellars.

If you don't like too touristy places and prefer to stay in a delightful village where time seems to have stopped, Niagara on The Lake is the one for you.

Buffalo

Buffalo is a city in the United States, about 30 km from the falls. Here is the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Buffalo can be a good base to stay overnight for those who need to sleep near the airport. Perfect for those who need to fly to or from New York, especially if you have an early flight.

Consider that from Buffalo there are several tours to visit the falls in one day or you can take the public bus that leaves from Buffalo Downtown Central Station.
