corippo is a small dream village, located in the southern part of Switzerland, and to be precise in Verzasca valley. A place to disconnect from the outside world, isolating yourself in the fantastic scenery offered by nature, which surrounds everything here. It is the smallest municipality in the state, but its citizens find themselves facing a harsh reality.

Corippo has never been a particularly populous village. The decidedly small size and naturalistic isolation from the rest of the world are not ideal for the new generations. Once the community boasted around 300 people. The number has significantly decreased today, with a total of just 12 residents, 11 of whom are over 65 years of age. A place truly out of time, where the only commercial activity is a tavern.

It is therefore easy to foresee how Corippo could become a ghost town in the near future. One of those places where you can set a gripping thriller, but certainly not live there. A terrible prospect, which he will try to remedy Corippo Foundation 1975, who has developed a recovery plan for the town that is incredible. In fact, the entire village could become a hotel, in what would be the first experiment of this kind in Switzerland.

Un’idea tanto innovativa nel Paese quanto ben corroborata nella vicina Italia. Allo stato attuale the buildings erected are 70 and of these the project involves the renovation of 30, with hundreds of years of history behind it, with resistant structures made of granite from nearby Ticino.

He expressed his opinion on this Fabio Giacomazzi, architect and president of the foundation: “This is an opportunity to offer the public a very particular stay experience, in a genuine rural village, which has in fact never changed significantly from 1800 to today. The initial project dates back to the 90s. The original idea was to bring permanent inhabitants back to the village, but it is not feasible, considering the size of the houses and the difficulty of access by car."

After many years, the work machine began to set in motion, with the first cottage, Arcotti House, which opened its doors to the public last July. To be able to book a room in the actual hotel, however, you will have to wait the inauguration at Easter 2020.
