Shenzhen is located in the southern part of the Guangdong province in China, on the eastern bank of the Pearl River Delta. Bordered by the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, Shenzhen's location confers a geographic advantage important for economic development.

In 1980 China's first Special Economic Zone was built in this city. Thereafter, the city has become one of the most important cities in China, for its rapid economic growth and for its tourism development.

More than thirty years ago, Shenzhen was a small fishing village called Baoan County, in 1979 it was renamed Shenzhen. With the introduction of the special economic zone the city was divided into six zones, four of which are part of the special economic zone.

What to visit in Shenzhen

Although the city does not have as many historical attractions as other famous cities in China, a number of excellent ones have been created theme parks that entertain tourists and visitors. The theme parks Splendid China e China Folk Culture Villages introduce visitors to China's long history and its diverse cultures while Window of the World leads to the discovery of the various corners of the world.

If you want to make your stay even more luxurious, you can visit H, the largest of the city's theme parks, located on a picturesque coast.

Every year more and more people come to this city to try and find a job as a result the city got more and more crowded. The local government has recently made environmental improvements throughout the city in an effort to combat the problems caused by overpopulation. In recognition of these improvements, the city was awarded the Garden City Award nel 2000.

The city has had to overcome a number of obstacles stemming from population growth, but it has also benefited from growing diversity. Workers come to the city from almost every part of China, bringing their local traditions and cuisines with them. Tourists in this city can taste the famous eight cuisines of China. Among the various local dishes that you shouldn't miss out on tasting il Kejia, one of the many dishes to try of the renowned Chinese cuisine.

Thanks to its developed economy, Shenzhen it is easy to reach quickly and comfortably by plane, train or ship. What's more… it is the only city in China that provides three modes of transportation to come and go simultaneously. Unfortunately, local transport is not as convenient due to the large population. However, the number of transport options available helps to counteract the problems caused by crowding.

In reverse, finding hotel accommodation in this city is very easy to do, as there are numerous hotels that often host businessmen and visitors from all over the world.

Finally, while on a trip or vacation here, plan a trip of 1 or more days to the nearby and beautiful Hong Kong, where you can enjoy the sights and attractions of the famous international metropolis.
